The Farm Owner and Manager Application is intended for individuals with farming experience, sufficient capital to invest in a farming operation, and a plan to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

Immigration Stream

Criteria and Requirements
Farm Owner Operator Stream (British Columbia PNP)– Intend to purchase and actively manage a farm in British Columbia
– Have farm management experience
– Have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000
– Make a minimum equity investment of CAD $500,000 in the proposed farm
– Submit a viable, comprehensive business plan
– Meet minimum language requirements (CLB 4)
– Demonstrate skills and experience necessary for the success of the farm business
Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative (SINP)– Intend to purchase and operate a farm in Saskatchewan
– Have a minimum net worth of CAD $500,000
– Make a minimum equity investment of CAD $300,000 in the farming operation
– Must have practical farming experience
– Submit a detailed business plan
– Agree to live in a rural area of Saskatchewan
– Attend an exploratory visit to Saskatchewan
– Demonstrate English or French language proficiency (CLB 4)
– Obtain a Temporary Work Permit and operate the farm for at least one year before applying for permanent residence
Self-Employed Farmer Stream (Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program – AINP)– Have farm management experience
– Make a minimum equity investment of CAD $500,000 in a primary production farming business in Alberta
– Provide a business plan for the farming enterprise
– Show proof of education, training, or work experience relevant to farm management
– Demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support self and family members
– Meet the minimum CLB 4 language requirements
– Plan to live and operate the farm in Alberta
Farm Business Investor Stream (Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program – MPNP)– Have farm business management experience
– Have a minimum personal net worth of CAD $500,000
– Make a minimum equity investment of CAD $300,000 in a farm business in rural Manitoba
– Submit a farm business investment proposal
– Provide a signed farm business investment agreement
– Attend an interview with MPNP officials
– Demonstrate sufficient English or French language proficiency (CLB 4)
Farm Investor Pathway (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program – OINP)– Have a personal net worth of at least CAD $1,500,000
– Invest at least CAD $1,000,000 in a primary agricultural or agri-food business in Ontario
– Control at least one-third of the equity in the business
– Create at least 5 full-time permanent jobs for Canadian citizens or permanent residents
– Submit a business plan for the investment
– Show the investment is of significant benefit to Ontario
Entrepreneur Category – Farm Business (Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program – PEI PNP)– Intend to reside in Prince Edward Island
– Have a minimum net worth of CAD $600,000
– Make a minimum investment of CAD $150,000 in an eligible business in PEI
– Have at least 3 years of experience in managing and operating a business
– Be between 21 and 59 years of age
– Have a high school diploma or equivalent education
